West Bradenton is the stretch of mainland between downtown Bradenton and the bridges to Anna Maria Island: quiet residential streets, mature trees, and houses with their own yards and pools. It is where most of the homes we manage are, and for a lot of our guests it turns out to be the better trade than staying on the island itself.
Why guests pick the mainland over the island
On Anna Maria Island you pay for the address. A few miles inland the same money buys a detached house with a private heated pool, a fenced yard, a driveway you do not have to fight for, and a full kitchen. Groceries, hardware stores, pharmacies and restaurants are minutes away rather than a bridge crossing. In high season, when the island backs up at the drawbridge, that difference is measured in hours over a two-week stay.
The beaches are still close. From West Bradenton you reach Anna Maria Island over Manatee Avenue or Cortez Road, and Coquina Beach, Bradenton Beach and Holmes Beach are all a short drive. Most guests go once a day and come home to their own pool.
